Arthur C. "Art" Mchenry

Arthur C. “Art” McHenry, age 68, of Underwood, Iowa, passed away July 26, 2020.
He was born in Pennsylvania on December 30, 1951. He had two sisters and was raised by his mother Mary "Izzy".
Arthur grew up fishing, hunting, being outside. He
worked at Glendale State Park in Pennsylvania to earn money to buy his first rifle. Art was always a hard worker which led him to joining the Army to avoid working in the steel mill or coal mines. While in the Army in August of 1973, Arthur drove a sick friend home to see his wife, while there he met Cherlyn during a friendly game of cards. Arthur made Cherlyn laugh until she cried during their first game of cards, when he left that weekend, he asked Cherlyn if he could come back to see her again. By April 6, 1974 Arthur and Cherlyn were married and Arthur soon after, was shipped to Germany for 16 months. Once home he went to Iowa Western community college for welding.
Arthur worked for Griffin pipe for twenty-eight and a half years until they closed. He enjoyed his retirement being with his family playing cards, fishing, going to the casino, buy scratch offs and lottery tickets as well as growing tomatoes even at the end he was playing cards with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father, sister and infant daughter, Dawn Marie.
Art is survived by his wife, Cherlyn McHenry; children, Eric McHenry (Amber) and Lisa Meyerpeter (William); sister, Delores Worthington (Richard); and 5 grandchildren

Visitation is 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday July 29, 2020 at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home. Funeral service is 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Interment is in Garner Township Cemetery. The family will direct memorials.
