Barbara E. Deitchler

Barbara E. Deitchler, age 86, passed away October 21, 2021. Barb was born May 12, 1935, to Mary Catherine (Thayer) and Arthur Paul Briggs in Council Bluffs, IA. She grew up and attended school in Treynor, IA, graduating from Treynor High school in 1953.
On November 23, 1957, Barbara and Robert Miller Deitchler were married at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Mineola, Iowa. They made their home in rural Silver City, IA where Bobby farmed, and their marriage was blessed with three children, David, John and Jim. Barb was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Mineola and the Silver City American Legion Auxiliary. She was a receptionist at a doctor’s office for many years and worked in the Treynor High School kitchen as a cook for 17 years. She sold Mary Kay and was inducted into the Westfair Hall of Fame. Barb and Bob enjoyed traveling, sightseeing, and spending time together. Barb loved spending time with her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; granddaughter, Morgan Elizabeth Deitchler; 2 sisters and 2 brothers.
Barbara is survived by her children, David Deitcher (Teri), John Deitchler (Renae), and Jim Deitchler (Janean); grandchildren, Mitchell, Matthew, Michael, and Madelyn; step granddaughters, Breann, Delani and Makenzi; sister-in-law, Roberta Thomas; nieces, nephews and a host of other family and friends.
Visitation will be at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home on Tuesday October 26, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Funeral service is at the funeral home on Wednesday October 27, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. Interment is in the Mineola, Iowa, Cemetery.
