Billy "Joe" Hildreth

Billy "Joe" Hildreth, age 80, passed away December 21, 2022 at Azria Longview Memory Unit of Missouri Valley, Iowa. He was born April 15, 1942, in Pisgah, Iowa and was one of twelve children born to Charles and Nina (Crews) Hildreth. He served in the Iowa National Guard in 1964, then the Army, and was called into active duty for the Vietnam War. He deployed to Fort Carson and later had an accident there where the Jeep he was riding in overturned on him.

Joe was united in marriage to Dorothy Harris on September 4, 1965, in Moorhead, Iowa. Joe started working in construction after graduating from Pisgah High School and then later worked for Union Pacific as a Carman for the remainder of his career. Joe was a member of the American Legion for 44 years, served on the Underwood School Board, and City Council, and was a longtime volunteer for the Underwood Fire Dept. He was an avid golfer, who also served on the Quail Run Board of Directors. He enjoyed boating and fishing with his children and grandchildren. Joe was preceded in death by his parents and nine siblings.

Joe is survived by his wife of 57 years, Dorothy of Council Bluffs, IA; daughters, Brenda (DeLynn) Sudmann of McClelland, IA, and Pamela Tuma of Tampa, FL; 5 grandchildren, Gabel, Guy, Jozie, Gavin, and Cole; brother, Royce; sister, Sandy Tucker; sister in laws, JoAnn and Connie; nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends.

Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Friday, December 23, 2022 with visitation held the hour prior to the service also at the funeral home. Private family burial at Fisher Cemetery, Underwood, Iowa. Family will direct memorials.
