Connie Carey

Connie Carey, age 70, of Council Bluffs, passed away April 19, 2015. Connie was born in Newark, NJ on September 14, 1944. Connie grew up as part of a large, loving family in Cransford, NJ. In her teens, she came to know the Grand Creator, Jehovah. She dedicated her life to him October 21, 1961. She started serving Jehovah as a pioneer on March 1, 1965. She just passed the mark of 50 years of full-time service. She had the privilege of serving with several congregations. She had the joy of serving for 3-1/2 years where the need was great in Evergreen, Alabama. Through two of her brothers who were serving at Bethel, she met Dennis. They were married March 25, 1972. They served in Davenport, Iowa for 5-1/2 years before being invited to Bethel. During the 30 years of their Bethel assignment, they delighted in being with the Fort Greene congregation. Connie loved the zealous faithful sisters, young and old that she got to know and work with at Bethel. The last 8 years, she enjoyed the field ministry (her first and greatest love) with the Valley View congregation in Council Bluffs, Iowa. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers Clayton Jr., Alonzo, Hobie Mitchell and sister Hattee Howser. Connie is survived by her husband Dennis Carey, brothers Alvoy (Mattie) Mitchell, George Mitchell, Howard (Cecelia) Mitchell, Johnny Mitchell and sister Carolyn Rickard. She is also survived by nephews Towler, Jobie, Mishon Rickard, Alvoy Jr., Andre Mitchell, Lamont, Christian Howser and nieces Tanika Rickard, Pat Mosley, Sarah Bullard, Elaine Brown, Damaris McGowan and many more family and friends. Funeral services are Saturday, April 25, 2015 2:00 p.m at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness, 2601 S. 10th Street in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
