Dana L. Smith

Dana L. Smith, age 82, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, passed away on April 29th at Midlands Living Center following a brief illness.

Dana was born on March 25, 1939 in Galesburg, Illinois. She attended school in Burlington, Iowa and after graduating, moved to Council Bluffs to work for Ranks Dept. Store. Soon after, she met the love of her life. Dana was united in marriage to Merle Smith on December 3, 1963 and to that union, they were blessed with 6 children.

Dana loved to cook for family and friends, entertain and host family events as well as garden. She had a green thumb and took great pride in planting and enjoying the beauty in the fruits of her labor. Dana worked for First National Bank of Omaha for 15 years before retiring.

Dana was preceded in death by her son, Geoffrey; sister, Debby Clark; brothers, Charles, and Steve Wagner.

She is survived by husband of 57 years, Merle Smith; children, Greg Smith and DeAnn Rader of Council Bluffs, Cheri (John) Mello of Omaha, NE, Charise (Brad) Wilson of Camdenton, MO and Dawn Shell of Washington, MO; brothers, Mike, Darrin and Dale LeManton; sisters, Dona Lezehr and Ashley Tee; 14 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren; beloved in-laws, friends, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Wednesday, May 5th 5:00-7:00PM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home as well as Thursday, May 6th from 10:00 - 11:00 am. Funeral Service will be Thursday at 11:00AM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home.
