Donald D. Hempel Sr., age 76, passed away June 6, 2019.
He was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa on May 30, 1943 to the late William and Edna (Coan) Hempel Sr. Donald graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School with the class of 1962 and retired from Pillsbury Elevator.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his siblings, William Hempel Jr., Karen Young, Barbara Anderson and Joyce Bynum; brother-in-law, Brian Michael.
Donald is survived by his wife of 55 years, Dixie Hempel; children, Lesa Higgins (Mike), Donald Hempel Jr. (Sonia), Bill Hempel (Chris), Alan Hempel, Tammy Wageman; grandchildren and great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation is 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home. Funeral service is 10:00 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Interment is in Garner Township Cemetery. The family will direct memorials.
