Eileen E. Grobe

August 4, 1930 — April 16, 2021

Eileen Grobe, age 90 peacefully passed away at her home in Oakland on April 16, 2021

Eileen Elizabeth (Casson) Grobe was born on August 4, 1930 in McClelland, Iowa. Eileen was the third oldest of ten children to Walter and Lillian (Petersen) Casson. The ten children were and are from oldest to youngest William, Marie Lou Christensen, Eileen Grobe, Evelyn Wild, Beverly Andersen, Leta Hoffman, Janet McKern, Walter Jr., Wes, and Wayne. There are three surviving siblings of the ten: Evelyn Wild, Janet McKern, and Wes Casson. You don’t see families like this very often. This large and dynamic family had a spread of 20 years between the oldest and youngest. The Cassons all learned the value of hard work on the farm in their youth. Strength of character and the desire to work hard were apparent in Eileen and her siblings, and are easily recognized in the children, grandchildren and great grandchildren of the Casson Clan

Eileen Graduated from Underwood High School in 1948. She then attended Jennie Edmundson School of nursing in Council Bluffs, Iowa where she graduated in 1951 as a Registered Nurse. Shortly thereafter, she worked for Dr. Olsen in Minden, Iowa. While working in Minden, she met Wilner Grobe and they were married on August 9, 1953. They lived in California for a short time while Wilner was in the Army. After their stay in California, Wilner and Eileen moved to the farm on Lombardy Road, west and north of Oakland, IA. There, they raised their three children, Thomas, Tamra, and Corey. Wilner passed away in 2001 and Eileen lived on the farm until 2010 when she moved to a condo in Oakland. Eileen was a loving, at times strict, caring, and compassionate Mom. She was a great cook, a hard worker, and always ready and willing to help her children, grandchildren, brothers or sisters any way she could.
Eileen loved working in the yard and always had a large garden which she took great pride in. She loved cooking for her family and having a full house. She loved playing cards and was always very competitive. She also enjoyed going to Riverside basketball and football games with her friends. When she was younger she enjoyed horseback riding, playing golf, and traveling to Colorado to visit her sisters.
But most of all, her biggest joy was being a mom and a grandmother.
Eileen was proceeded in death by her parents, Walter and Lillian Casson, her husband Wilner, Daughter in law Jodi Grobe, brothers; William Casson, Walter Jr. Casson, Wayne Casson, sisters; Beverly Andersen, Leta Hoffman and Marie Christensen.
She is survived by son Tom and wife Terresa, daughter Tammy and husband Gerald Warren, son Corey and wife Christine, grandchildren; Matthew (Gina) Warren, Luke (Lindsay) Warren, Molly (Kyle) Moline, Nicholas (Danielle) Grobe, Jacob Grobe, Chelsie (Matt) Argotsinger, Nathalie Grobe, Veronica Grobe, Shelby (Donnie) Haynes and Hadley Caniglia, great grandchildren; Kylar and Nolan Warren, Mason and Everly Moline, Cal and Brooks Warren and Austin Haynes.
