Eleanor Faye Garside

Eleanor Faye Garside, 81 years, passed away Friday, March 8, 2019 in Council Bluffs.

She was born September 3, 1937 in Long Pine, Nebraska to the late Bruce and Maude Geraldine (Barrier) Allmon. Eleanor graduated from Missouri Valley High School in 1955. She was a lifelong Christian and had a strong faith in God.
On February 3, 1967, Eleanor was united in marriage to Leonard Garside at the Church of Christ in Missouri Valley, IA. Leonard and Eleanor made their home in Council Bluffs, IA where they raised their family. Eleanor worked for Union Pacific Railroad until she became a mother; then became a homemaker, enjoying nothing more than caring for her family. Eleanor adored her 8 grandchildren and cherished every moment spent with them. Eleanor loved to tell stories of the many trips she took with her sister, brother, husband and children. One of her favorite stories to tell was of their honeymoon camping trip.

Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leonard; and brothers, Keith and Bruce Allmon.

She is survived by her daughter, Angela Rudolph (Ray), Houston, Texas; two sons, Kirk Garside (Susan), Council Bluffs and Scott Garside (Michelle), Dunlap, Iowa; 8 grandchildren, Sara Rudolph, Trent Rudolph, Rebecca Rudolph, McKenna Garside, Connor Garside, Eli Garside, Ian Garside and Owen Garside; sister, Marlene Allmon, Iowa Falls, IA; sister-in-Law Judy Allmon of Council Bluffs, IA; many nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, 5 to 7 p.m., at the Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home. Her funeral service will be Wednesday, 10:30 a.m., also at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery.
