Eric Foster

Eric Foster, age 60, passed away at Nebraska Medicine on August 26, 2022.

He was born January 24, 1962, to William and Rita (Branson) Foster in Omaha, NE. Eric graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School with the class of 1980.

He was preceded in death by father, William Foster; sister, Hope Foster.

Eric is survived by his son, Eric (Kim) Foster; mother, Rita Foster; stepson, Michael Casillas; companion Cindy Ackerman and her son Kaedan Ratigan; siblings, Teresa Foster, Bill (Judy) Foster, and Jeffrey Foster; uncle, Lou Fox; grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins; his beloved dog, Buddy.

In high school, Eric was a Thespian and participated in Tennis. His favorite team was the Hawkeyes and is second favorite team was whoever was playing the Huskers.

Eric started his labor career with the Union Pacific Railroad as a Maintenance of Way Machine Operator. After many years, he went on to become a Union Local 571 Crane Operator. A promotion led to a Union Representative position. Eric was a man of many talents. He was an accomplished cook, a love he shared with his mom. One of his last requests was for a coconut cream pie, which he was able to enjoy.

A recent vacation to visit his son in Idaho was a highlight for them both. The outdoors and the mountains were a common bond between them. It was not uncommon to see Eric biking all over Council Bluffs, as he embraced an active lifestyle. Eric had a unique sense of humor, if you knew him, you understand.

Eric dearly loved his dogs. Sparky, who he has joined and Buddy, who he leaves behind.


Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 30, 2022.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM at St Peter Catholic Church on Wednesday, August 31, 2022. The family will direct memorials.
