Eugene H. Olsen

Eugene H. Olsen, age 86, passed away September 1, 2016 at the Longview Home in Missouri Valley, Iowa.

He was born near Missouri Valley on January 20, 1930 to the late John and Dagma (Thomsen) Olsen. Eugene graduated from Beebeetown High School with the class of 1947 and then proudly served his country in the United States Army. After his service to the nation, he returned home and farmed before moving to Council Bluffs. Eugene retired from the U. S. Postal Service.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Glen, Dean and John Olsen; sisters, Loretta Christiansen and Esther Nelson.

Eugene is survived by his wife of 66 years, Betty Olsen; son, Duane Olsen (Kim); daughter, Carolyn Henry (Edward); sister, Bernice Hooge (Lowell); brother, Kenneth Olsen (Marilyn); granddaughters, Ashley Baruth (Tim) and Rebecca Insko (Tim); great grandchildren, Sophie, Olivia and Samuel; nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other family and friends.

Visitation is 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., on Monday, at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home. Memorial service is 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, at the funeral home. Inurnment is in the Grange Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Generations Hospice Care or Memory Lane at the Longview Home
