Fred R. Newcomb

Fred R. Newcomb, 80 years, of Council Bluffs, passed away peacefully after a short battle with cancer. He was born in Sharonville, Ohio on February 26, 1937.

He retired as a major in the United States Air Force after 22 years and serving in Vietnam. Fred also worked at First Data Resources for 20 years. Fred enjoyed over thirty seven years with Linda Green. They loved round and square dancing as well as traveling and attending their many grandchildren and great grandchildren’s activities.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents, William and Esther; his brother, Bill and a sister, Joyce.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Green and her son, James as well as Fred’s children, Michael R. Newcomb (Irina Popa, MD), Kristi Newcomb (Topher Hansen) and Robin Kaspar (Mark); his brother, Bob Newcomb (Darlene); 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Visitation with the family will be Friday evening between the hours of 6 and 8PM at the Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Saturday, 10AM also at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Minden, Iowa Cemetery. The family will direct the memorials.
