Frederick E. Hartmann

Frederick E. “Fred” Hartmann, age 78, of Underwood, Iowa passed away February 12, 2018 at Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital.

He was born in Galva, Iowa on February 11, 1940 to the late Willie and Alzada (Peters) Hartmann. He graduated from New Virginia High School in 1958. Fred served in the United States Army from May 1963 to April 1969. He worked for many years as a heavy equipment operator.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary; brother-in-law, Wilbert McKee; nephew, Michael Cleveland.

Fred is survived by his wife, Virginia to whom he was married on January 24, 1965. He is also survived by his daughter, Melissa Peterson; son, Thomas Hartmann; grandchildren, Steven Peterson (Ariel), Jeff Peterson, Logan Hartmann, Brady Hartmann (Katelin), Abbigale Fisher (Jake); 5 great grandchildren; sister, Evelyn Dicks (Larry); siblings-in-laws, Rose Weary (James), Cathe McKee, John Cleveland (Sharon); nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation is 5:00p.m. to 7:00p.m. on Thursday at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home. Funeral service is 10:00a.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be later that afternoon in the Grant Cemetery near Rodney, Iowa. The family will direct memorials.
