G.E Charlie Dix

March 4, 1936 — June 13, 2020

G.E. Charlie Dix, age 84, passed away on June 13, 2020 after a long battle with Myasthenia Gravis.

He was born March 4, 1936 in Grand Junction, IA to the late Hubert and Fern (Nidey) Dix. Charlie and Ruth were married in 1955 and they moved to Sioux City where they were blessed with 4 of their children. He worked for 12 years at Metz Bakery. He then went to work for MFA as an insurance agent for 2 years. In 1969, they moved to Council Bluffs where their youngest child was born and he began a new career as a Farmers Insurance agency owner. He was the proud owner of Dix Insurance Agency. He retired in 2005 only to start his part time career as a school bus driver. In his spare time he enjoyed helping take care of the church lawn at St Marks United Methodist Church where he and Ruth had been members since they moved to Council Bluffs. He also had a love for Johnny Cash and his Iowa Hawkeyes! First and foremost, he loved his family

G.E. Charlie is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Forrest, Robert, and Richard; sisters, Frances and Thema.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth Dix; children, Cheryl Butler (William), Eric Dix, Mark Dix (Jackie), Andrew Dix (Emily), Paula Sass (Kevin); brother, Bert Dix; sisters, Shirley Davenport (Merrill), Sue Ripperberger (Mick); 14 grandchildren, Sarah Holt (Jerimiah), Nathan Dix (Kelly), Abby Lindeman (Derrick), Jacob Dix (Kellyn), Kady Dever (Joe), Shayla Roof (Dustin), Alyssa Sass, Zach Dix, Dillon Sass (Nina), Tyler McGee (Amanda), Nolan Dix, Brett McGee (Jordyn), Alex McGee (Brittany), Jessica Dix; 26 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and a host of other family and friends.

Memorial Service will be Friday, June 19, 2020 at 2pm at the Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home with a private family inurnment following at the cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to St. Marks United Methodist Church or Muscular Dystrophy Association.
