Gary T. Kennedy

Gary T Kennedy, 77, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly on January 7th 2021.

Gary was born November 23rd 1943 to the late Joseph and Blanche (Newland) Kennedy. He grew up with three sisters and one brother. Gary attended Longfellow and A.L. and worked at Dahl Welding for many years as a shop manager. He then went on to retire from ConAgra foods as a leadman. When Gary was 20, he met the love of his life Candy Hannum. Things werent the easiest for ole Gary though, While courting his future wife he would get beat up by Candys older brothers and told to never come back. Being the very persistent person Gary was he still would return everyday to see Candy and take her out. Eventually Gary won the hearts of her brothers and the two were able to share 36 years of marital bliss also welcoming four children, three daughters Jackie, Cammy, and Kassie, One son Chris. Gary loved taking his family on vactions to different places but his favorite place will always be Lake Manawa with his fishing pole. Gary loved to make people laugh and was quite the story teller. One of his most famous stories that he loved telling his best friend was when he spent time as a Coast Guard of the Mighty Missouri River.

Gary is proceeded in death by his wife, Candy Kennedy; grandson, Zachary Mendoza; great granddaughter, Amayah Putnum; and daughter, Cammy Kennedy.

Gary is survived by his brother, Dennis Kennedy; sister, Linda (Kennedy) Wood; daughters,
Jackie Kennedy, Kassie Kennedy; son, Chris Kennedy; twelve grandchildren; and one great granddaughter, Willow Mendoza; along with many nieces and nephews, and his best buddy,
John Askins, all of Council Bluffs.

There will be no viewing or funeral.
The family is asking that you please attend a Celebration and Remembrance of his life on Saturday, Jan. 23rd at 2:00 P.M. at the Highpoint Open Bible Church located at 1430 Ave E, Council Bluffs, IA. Memorials may be directed to the family.
