Jerry was born to Schuyler and Doris on April 14th, 1933 in Magnolia, Iowa. He grew up on a farm and as a kid enjoyed playing baseball. Jerry also enjoyed cryptograms and puzzles, rock gardening, watching westerns, mushroom hunting, country music, dancing with his wife, and spending time with family. He loved playing with his grandchildren! Especially after retirement, he felt that there was never anything more important to do than enjoy adventures with the grandkids! Jerry had a servants heart, put others before himself and was always looking for ways to be of help in every situation and to every person. In addition, he was a very witty man, had a great sense of humor, loved telling stories and making others laugh. He had a unique way of looking at the bright side of things: No matter what disappointment one faced, we could always agree with him that it was, Better than a sharp stick in the eye!
