Joab "Joe" S. Strachan

January 24, 1919 — February 17, 2013

Joab "Joe" S. Strachan, age 94 of Council Bluffs was born January 24, 1919 in Webster City, Iowa. He was one of 8 children born to Frank and Rue Strachan. He outlived his parents and all of his siblings. Joe passed away February 17, 2013. Betty Lou, his beloved wife of 70 years passed away July 16, 2010 and his son, William K ?Billy Joe? on March 21, 1979. His pride and joy was his business, the Iowa Riggers Loft, Inc. which he owned and operated for 60 years. He provided jobs for many family members and friends. One of his passions was boating. He had a houseboat named the Betty Lou and it was docked at the Sandpiper Cove Marina for many years. Joe was a 50 year member of Bluffs City Masonic Lodge #71. In later years his life was wonderful with family get-togethers and a 60th wedding anniversary at the Narrows Park as well as many birthday parties for grandchildren. Joe is survived by his daughter, Betty Jo Watson; 2 grandchildren, Kelly Jo Raus & Mike Kilbane; 6 great grandchildren, Tonya, Tara, Traci, Joey, Bill and Rileigh; 8 great-great grandchildren, Jaiden, Jakob, Jace, Alyssa, Adalynn, Tre?, Taiton and Jaylin (another due in April); longtime friend and caregiver, John Engman. Masonic service is on Wednesday 5:30PM followed by visitation until 8PM at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home. Funeral is Thursday 11AM at the funeral home. Interment is in the Cedar Lawn Cemetery.
