Katheryn Louise Bintz

May 20, 1932 — November 9, 2016

Katheryn Louise (White) Bintz was born May 20,1932 to Arthur and Ruby White at the family farm in Afton, Iowa. She attended a one room country school, which was next to their family farm. She graduated from Afton High School in 1950 and then from Iowa State University in July 1954. Kathy taught Home Economics in Monroe and Avoca, Iowa. In the fall of 1956 she met Carroll Bintz on a hayrack ride. They were married July 21, 1957 in Afton Iowa. Carroll and Kathy had been married 59 years in July. They farmed south of Minden, Iowa on the family farm with Adolph and Lydia Bintz. She served on the Tri-Center School board for many years. Kathy was a 50 year member of Order of the Eastern Star and had held many offices. She served as a Grand Representative to Tennessee for 2 years. She was active in Women's Fellowship at the Minden UCC Church and was a Sunday School teacher for many years. Kathy was a member of the Friendly Links Club, a member of the Minden Legion Auxiliary, a member of the 4H Youth Committee, a 4H leader for many years and spent most of her life as a mother and homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, and gardening, and was excellent at it. She leaves to mourn her passing husband Carroll J Bintz, Son Philip Bintz of Neola, IA, Daughter Renae Bullis of Des Moines, IA, Grandchildren Garth Bullis and Arianna Bullis of Des Moines, IA, Sister-in-laws Nancy White and Carolyn Bintz, nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Ruby White, a son, Garth Lee Bintz, her brother, Marvin White and son-in-law David Bullis. Memorials may be directed to the Garth Bintz Memorial Scholarship or the Minden Volunteer Fire Department.

Eastern Star service is 6:00p.m. on Friday followed by visitation until 8:00p.m. at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home. Funeral service is 11:00a.m. on Saturday at the Minden United Church of Christ. Interment is in the Minden, Iowa Cemetery.
