Kenneth L Ronk

November 30, 1942 — July 29, 2022

Kenneth L. Ronk (AKA) Ken, Red, brother, brother Kenny, Uncle Kenny, grandpa, Dad, and Pops. He was born in Council Bluffs on November 30, 1942 to the late Fay and Louise (Law) Ronk. He lived his whole life in Council Bluffs. Kenny passed away on Friday, July 29, 2022, at Mercy Hospital, surrounded by his family who loved him dearly. He will be greatly missed. Kenny married Patricia (Furgison) Ronk on October 9, 1966 and was married for nearly 56 years.

Kenny started working in his childhood as a paperboy and helped his mother buy food for his family. As an adult he worked as a cook, welder, mechanic and truck driver. He loved trucking. Kenny worked for Gould National Battery for many years in Omaha, until he started truck driving. He started truck driving in 1984 for various companies, including Mather Trucking Inc., Main Prize Trucking Company, and National Freightways Inc., until he retired.

Kenny worked very hard his whole life to raise and support his family, something he learned from his mother, Louise. Kenny loved his family dearly. He enjoyed celebrating all the birthday parties, picnics, Thanksgivings and Christmas parties with the entire family around him. He would go visit his family often and enjoyed having his family over visiting him often. Kenny enjoyed cooking for and feeding his family and friends.

Kenny enjoyed reading, especially about history. He was a dreamer and would talk about all the places he wanted to travel and see. Kenny was able to travel to some of them places through his years. He enjoyed traveling and sightseeing. He would share his knowledge with his family of all the things he learned about. He always liked learning new things.

He enjoyed talking about trucking with his brothers, nephews and friends. When he was younger, in good health he like to go camping, boating, swimming, and hunting with his family and friends. He attended El Bethel Assembly of God with his wife for many years and gave his life to God.

Kenny would give the "shirt off his back" and help anyone that needed help throughout his years. You could always depend on Ken. He was more than a brother to his siblings in his life. He would take them under his wing, teach them, give them advice, act like a father figure at times, and a friend.

Our father, brother, uncle, friend, grandpa, and husband to Pat, showed us courage, strength and love throughout his life. He was always so caring and concerned for our wellbeing. He will be remembered and missed!

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by stepfather, Ernie McGee; siblings, Bob Ronk, Sammy Ronk, George Ronk, JoAnn Ronk; and Mary Kirchert (Gail); and brother-in-law, Roger Rose.

He leaves behind his wife, Patricia; children, JoAnn (John) Sherman, Kenneth (Tracy) Ronk, Jr., and Kevin (Ann) Ronk; 11 beloved grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a brother, Mike (Rhonda) McGee; sisters, Karla (Ron) McClelland and Karen Rose; sisters and brothers-in-law, Kathy (John) Nordmeyer and Sharon (Tom) Judkins; many nieces; nephews; and cousins.

Memorials may be direct to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
