Larry Rosco Hilton

May 13, 1951 — March 4, 2022

Larry Hilton, age 70, passed away suddenly at CHI Health Mercy Hospital March 4, 2022.

He was born on Mother’s Day, May 13, 1951, to the late Chester and Helen (Voss) Hilton near Pisgah, IA.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Hilton; father-in-law, Robert Parker, sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Parker.

Larry is survived by his wife, Barbara Hilton; daughters and sons-in-law, Jana (Greg) Sturm, and Erin (Courtney) Kiley; siblings, Gaylene (Terry) Woodward, Janise (Mike) Richardson; sister-in-law, Helen Hilton; mother-in-law, Marjorie Parker; brothers-in-law, Fred (Sharon) Parker, Terry Parker; grandchildren, Elli Sturm, Hunter Kiley, Hannah Kiley, and Hattie Sturm; nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

Larry lived an active life in his young, almost 71 years. Hard work and determination to provide for his family was a deep passion that helped him grow his roofing business and sustain it for over 40 years until his aging body told him it was time. Still needing to be productive he tinkered on his motor home, pontoon, an award-winning Dream Playground volunteer which in turn led into summer employment at Lake Manawa State Park. Larry never met a stranger, he was quite the “Chatty Cathy” and boasted about being a Papa. His love for the outdoors left him with an envious summers tan year round as he fished, hunted, camped, grilled out, tended to the garden, on the lookout for bald eagles or enjoying a campfire. He was a collector of many things like coins, Coca-Cola memorabilia, Barbie’s for his wife and would have loved a collection of Mustangs. His daughters liked to sneak his favorite snacks of Snickers bars, peanut M&M’s, Caramel Delights and Cheetos. Christmas dinner always required his homemade lasagna of course. Some of his proudest moments were being able to walk both his daughters down the aisle and welcome in four, beautiful grandchildren. One special enough to share his birthday and that gift couldn’t really be topped in his eyes.

Larry proudly served his country during the Vietnam War.
