Obituary for Lavonne "Bonnie" Marie Hibbard

Lavonne “Bonnie” Marie Hibbard, age 89, of Council Bluffs, Iowa passed away at Northcrest Living Center on July 31, 2017. She was born on May 9, 1928, in Neola, IA to the late Harry Nelson and Laura Driver Nelson.

Bonnie married Donald Hibbard in 1953, and together they raised 5 children and a granddaughter.

Bonnie was a hard worker and retired after 35 years with the local telephone company. She was always proud when she spoke of her job as a Frame Worker, especially since it was considered a “man’s job.”

Bonnie enjoyed crafts, sewing, crocheting and was often working on costumes or projects for her 12 grandchildren. She made teddy bears and donated them to the local emergency services. She loved watching sports especially hockey, baseball and football. It was an added bonus if it was one of her many grandkids playing.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald and son, Michael. She is survived by Cheryl Christensen and husband, Daniel, Jeffrey Hibbard, Sandra Meeker, Nancy Carver and husband, Jack, and Christina Holland and husband, Marty; 12 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.

Memorial service will be Saturday, 2 p.m., at Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to the family.
