Lloyd R. Oswald

November 29, 1934 — April 9, 2017

Lloyd R. Oswald was born November 29, 1934 to Minnie (Oetting) Oswald and Alfred R. Oswald in Omaha, Nebraska. Lloyd grew up on the family farm near Madison, Nebraska and after high school, he proudly served his country in the United States Army CO H, 47th Infantry Regiment. Lloyd married the love of his life, Catherine Johnson, in 1958 in Clark County, Nevada and they were married until her death in 2003. Lloyd also was preceded in death by his parents.
Lloyd worked in sales and product management in the RV and manufactured housing industry for over 35 years and traveled extensively which led him and his family to live not only in Council Bluffs, Iowa, but Elkhart, Indiana; Nashville, Tennessee, and Wichita, Kansas before retiring just over ten years ago.

Lloyd was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod and throughout his life he returned to his faith time and time again for peace and guidance including right up to his final days. He was known for being principled, loyal and disciplined; having high integrity; helping others; being tough and tireless; making the right stand even if it was not popular; and having grit. Lloyd enjoyed boating, fishing, hunting, reading about his faith, Husker football, current events, health & fitness, travel, his work and so much more…

He is survived by his sons David and Terry, Terry’s wife Michelle and grandson Theodore James Oswald. Memorials may be made to the St. Francis Mission on the Rosebud Reservation.

Visitation will be Thursday evening, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Friday, 10:00 a.m., also at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Grange Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the St. Francis Mission on the Rosebud Reservation.
