Lorene Janiece (Nelsen) Ronnfeldt

Lorene Janiece (Nelsen) Ronnfeldt passed away on October 17, 2022, at home at the age of 78 after being diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML).

Janiece was born December 5, 1943, to Walter Lawrence and Lola Lorene (Carroll) Nelsen in Omaha, NE. She graduated from Avoca High School in Avoca, IA in 1961 and worked at Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in Omaha and later for the Army Corps of Engineers also in Omaha as an Administrative Assistant.

On January 27, 1962, Janiece married Harold Ronnfeldt at Trinity Lutheran Church in Avoca and together they moved to Council Bluffs, IA and raised their two children, Teresa and Byron.

Janiece was an avid reader and best known for her quick-witted humor, fierce determination and finesse for writing.

She is preceded in death by her father; mother; and brother, Wayne Nelsen. 

She is survived by her husband, Harold; daughter, Teresa and her husband, Samuel Butman, MD, Scottsdale, AZ; son, Byron, Lincoln, NE; brothers, Lonn (Theota) Avoca, and Vaughn (Janette), Omaha; sister-in-law, Virginia Nelsen, Avoca; as well as her aunts; uncles; cousins and many other friends. The family would like to thank St. Croix Hospice for their services.

Her wishes were to be cremated with no service. Janiece will be interred at Graceland Cemetery in Avoca. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Mobile Meals of Council Bluffs in her honor.(www.connectionsaaa.org).
