Marvel Marie Hayes

Marvel Marie Hayes, age 96, of Carter Lake, IA passed away December 19, 2016 at CHI Health Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs.

She was born on February 13, 1920 in Correctionville, IA and graduated from Correctionville High School in 1941. She lived in Storm Lake, IA and retired from BV Manor.

In 2002, she moved to Carter Lake to be closer to her son Larry and family. She was very active in the Senior Center and First Baptist Church.

Marv was preceded in death by her daughter, Sharon Marie; father, Bill Ahrendsen and stepmother, Ida; mother and stepfather, “Goldie” and Al Gates; brother, Chuck (Loui) Ahrendsen.

She is survived by her twin sister, Marg Mann; son, Larry (Marlene) Hayes; granddaughters, Sharon Marie (Scott) Way and Annette Waddell; 5 great grandchildren; and 9 great-great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Friday, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home. Funeral service to begin at 1 p.m. also at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the family.
