Mary Ann Howland

Mary Ann Howland, age 83, of Council Bluffs, passed away on Sunday, May 27, 2018.

She was born on May 7, 1935 in Mapleton, IA, to the late William and Mary (Flaming) Uhl, and was united in marriage to Merrill (Buss) Howland on November 22, 1956. Along with raising her children, she also worked at Daily Nonpareil Newspaper and later at Jennie Edmundson Memorial Hospital. Buss passed away on March 27, 2009. Her faith, family and friends were the joy of her life.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, an infant son, 3 brothers, and 3 sisters.

She is survived by her children, Steve (Brenda) Howland, Carol (Dennis) Mesenbrink, Russell (Michelle) Howland, Ricky Howland, Bryan Howland; 7 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren.

Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 – 8:00PM Thursday at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home with a Vigil service at 7:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00AM Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mapleton, IA and interment in the church cemetery. A luncheon will be held in the church hall immediately following the committal service.
