Obituary for Michael M. Herbst

Michael Matthew Herbst was born in Harlan, Iowa, on May 10, 1960, to the late Victor J. and Gladys (Carroll) Herbst. Mike died January 01, 01, 2018, at his home in Jacksonville, Florida.

He graduated with the class of 1978 from Thomas Jefferson High School and immediately entered the U.S. Army. He later graduated from Baker University in Kansas. Mike's career in the insurances industry took him from Omaha, to Kansas City, to Louisville, KY, and finally to Jacksonville. He enjoyed woodworking, golf and his family.

In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by sisters Julie Herbst and Vicky Draper, brothers Kerry and David Herbst, and twin granddaughters Dillon and Eliott Pallett. He is survived by his children, Elisabeth Pallett, Lenexa, KS, Andrew Herbst (Angelica Floyd), Fairbanks, AK, and Matthew Herbst, Booneville, MO; granddaughter Evalyn Pallett; sisters Joan (Joe) Gubbels, Susan Herbst-Murphy of Bryn Mawr, PA, Joyce Krula (Gary) of Sacramento, CA, and Michelle Conway (Paul Butcher) of Madison, WI; brother Robert Herbst of Omaha; sisters-in-law Marilyn Herbst of Omaha and Rita Herbst of Ivanhoe, IL; nieces and nephews.
