Mike O'Hara

September 9, 1965 — July 12, 2021

Mike O’Hara passed away at home July 12, surrounded by his loving family.

Mike was born September 9, 1965 in Millington, Tennessee. His parents were Susan and Charles O’Hara.
Mike lived each day with a positive attitude and deep love for family and friends, was thoughtful and committed to helping people. He enjoyed a nearly 40-year career in the banking industry, working 33 years at First National Bank of Omaha, where he retired in 2020 as a senior personal banker. This gave him the opportunity to spend time with his grandson and best little buddy, Blake.

He was an avid sports fan - passionate about the Chicago Bears, Iowa State Cyclones and Michigan Wolverines. He loved to go to the College World Series, NASCAR races and other events. When he wasn’t there in person, he hosted wonderful game watch parties for family and friends.

Mike married his high school sweetheart and best friend, Diane. Over the past 40 years, they made many special memories. They loved to vacation with Mike’s Uncle Dean and Aunt Paula to places such as Hawaii, Gulf Shores and Mexico. They loved to be near the water with family at Lake of the Ozarks.

Mike was a man of faith and an active member of the Hazel Dell Methodist Church. He served as Chairman of the Staff Parish Relation’s Committee and worked closely with the pastor and congregation. He took pleasure in being the liturgist, usher and serving the parish however he could.

Nothing meant more to Mike than family. He created a wonderful legacy and his kindness will live on. He will be missed by all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his father, Charles O’Hara; grandparents Janet and Richard O’Hara, Blanche and Herbert Cloyd; father-in-law Thomas Bruner.

Mike is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Diane; son Adam (Jessica); daughter Ashley Ruppe (Gage); grandson Blake Ruppe; mother, Susan O’Hara; brothers Craig O’Hara (Michelle Ross), Shawn O’Hara (Shayla); sisters Shelly Gerdes (Rodney), Mindy Obenschain (Brandon); uncle Dean Cloyd (Paula), aunt Kathy Schuman (Mitch); uncle Dan Cloyd, (May); mother-in law Connie Bruner; sister-in-law Tracey Rayhons (Jerome); and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
