Nickolas Paulson

July 31, 1943 — January 9, 2014

Nickolas Paulson fought a courageous cancer battle to the end. Cancer took his body on January 9, 2014 but it never conquered his spirit. Nick was born July 31, 1943 in Council Bluffs, Iowa to Mike and Sima Paulson. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School and joined the Army where he was honorably discharged in 1967. After returning from the service he attended UNO. He was united in marriage to Mary Ann Smith on June 11, 1966. He held his career in construction, owning his own company, NP Construction Corporation. Nick also farmed raising registered quarter horses. Nick's love was his family and being on the farm. He did not believe in strangers and made everyone around him feel special. Happy times for him included family, grandkids, wrestling and horses. He was a member of First Christian Church and loved attending services. Nick's faith developed into something special. Nick was well-known in the construction community and a "concrete" mentor to many. He was an Optimist Club, Iowa and American Quarter Horse Association member and active with the Iowa State Cyclone Wrestling Club. Nick was preceded in death by parents, Mike and Sima Paulson; brothers, George, Mike and Joe Paulson; and sisters, Mildred Malloff, Margaret and Helen Paulson.
