Patty Lou (Mark) Pope Heaven received an angel on August 4, 2016. Patty Lou (Mark) Pope was born in Council Bluffs, IA on August 13, 1935. Patty married the love of her life, Dorsey Dean Pope on July 8, 1955. They were blessed with 3 children. The family moved to the country in 1965 where they made their home for the past 51 years. She loved attending her kids school events. When Dorsey retired, they purchased a cabin in So. Dakota. They loved spending time relaxing, fishing, and having family and friends come to visit. Patty loved to entertain. There was always coffee cake to enjoy for whoever stopped by and she was always eager to take one to share at someones home. As her children grew older and the grandchildren started to arrive, she made sure that each one felt as if they were her favorite. As the great grandchildren arrived she hand sewed a a blanket for each one of them, carefully selecting the right one for each. In their spare time, Dorsey and Patty were devoted volunteers for Meals on Wheels for over 20 years. They also enjoyed helping paint scenery for the Little Bethlehem at their church. Patty made dozens of cookies for the Vacation Bible School children. Dorsey and Patty celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary in July and Patty celebrated her almost birthday Saturday, July 30th surrounded by her loved ones. Her life was filled with generosity, kindness, and charity to all that she met. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister. Patty was a member of First Christian Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, George, Sherm, and Walt; sisters, Fran, Claire, and Clara; sister-in-law, Darlene; great grand daughter Elli Reed. Patty is survived by her husband, Dorsey; children, Mark (Pam) Pope of North Platte, Ne., Teri (Aaron) Vorthmann of Henderson, Tim (Tracy)Pope of Council Bluffs; sisters, Mary Sturm and Marybeth (Dale) Thompson; brothers, Ron (Carole) Hutchison and Raymond Hutchison; sisters-in-law, Mary Mark, Myra Mark, Donna (Frank) Kelley, Oregon;brothers-in-law, Jack (Norma) Pope and Mike (Bonnie) Pope; 8 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many other friends and family. Visitation is Monday from 6-8 pm at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home.With Funeral Service at 10am on Tuesday at at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home. Interment is in Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to First Christian Church or Hospice with Heart.
