Paul A. Mauer

Paul A. Mauer, age 89, of Council Bluffs passed away January 11, 2018.

He was born February 21, 1928 to the late Arthur and Anna (Kasiske) Mauer. Paul proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He retired from Norwest Bank in 1987. Paul has been a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ since 1950. He was also very active in the Council Bluffs Optimist Club. He was a charter member of the club and held many offices at the local and state level. Paul was associated with the Boy Scouts Mid America Council the past chairman of Trailblazers.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Lois Danker and Joan Doherty; brother, Ronald Mauer.

Paul is survived by his wife of 70 years, Doloris Mauer; children, Joelle Rose, Paula Crotty, Linda Griffin (Jim), Paul Mauer Jr. (Lynn) and Jim Mauer; siblings, Betty Jean Rodenburg and Robert Mauer (Lou Ann); grandchildren, Jennifer Washburn (Cory), Joanna Sabally (Lamin), Richard Crotty (Beth); 6 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and a host other family and friends.

Visitation is 4:00p.m. to 7:00p.m. on Friday January 19, 2018 at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home. Funeral service is 11:00a.m. on Saturday January 20, 2018 at St. John’s United Church of Christ – 400 Cloverdale Drive in Council Bluffs. Interment is in Ridgewood Cemetery, Memorials are suggested to St. John’s United Church of Christ or The Council Bluffs Optimist Club.
