Pauline Johnson, age 71, passed away April 22, 2015 in Bellevue, Nebraska surrounded by her husband and family. Mrs. Johnson was born in Council Bluffs on June 22, 1943 to the late Eulalio and Luz (Torres) Lara. Pauline graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School. She attended the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley where she studied Special Education and completed her Bachelors Degree at Dana College majoring in Elementary Education. She later attended Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio where she received her Masters of Education Degree and the School Administrators Certificate. She retired from teaching in 1999. She and her husband lived in San Antonio from 1986 to 2014. Pauline enjoyed NBA Basketball, especially the San Antonio Spurs, reading, sewing, traveling and spending time visiting various family members. She held a special deep affection for all of her nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brothers, Leo, Ray, Rudy, infant brother Johnny; several loved brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Pauline is survived by her husband, James Johnson to whom she married in Council Bluffs on June 8, 1968; daughters and sons-in-law, Angela and Mark Crump of Littleton, Colorado, Hillary Johnson and Eric Okunevich of Chicago, Illinois; son, David Johnson and Victor Roman of San Diego, California; grandsons, Aiden and Brody Crump; sisters, Connie Foster, Dona McMillan, Elvira Beaman, Dolores Robinson and Carmen Cox all of Council Bluffs and Emily Jacobsen of Omaha; brothers, Tom Lara and Paul Lara of Council Bluffs, Carlos Lara of Sycamore, Illinois, and Al Lara of Mt. Lake Terrace, Washington; nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation is Sunday April 26, 2015 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home. Memorial Mass will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Monday at St. Peters Catholic Church, #1 Bluff Street in Council Bluffs. Inurnment will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the March of Dimes, 3000 Weslayan, Suite #100 Houston, TX 77027.
