Richard E. Jensen

Richard Jensen, age 80, passed away January 24, 2021. He was born January 2, 1941 to Elmer and LaVerta (Fischer) Jensen in Council Bluffs, IA. Richard graduated in 1959 at Minden High School and married the love of his life, Judy Peterson, in 1963. The couple had 3 children and were married for 57 years. Richard served 4 years in the United States Air Force during Vietnam. He later became a Member of Post 437, The Minden American Legion. He also was an active member of the Minden Community Club, The Minden United Church of Christ, was the Sexton of Minden Township Cemetery and in his earlier years, a member of Minden Vol. Fire Department. He started working at Jensen Service, Ltd in 1965 and eventually became owner and retired in 2004. Richard was a lifetime resident of Minden who helped out in any situation with a greeted smile and conversation. He enjoyed farming in his spare time for Lynn Olsen and Ben Fischer but most of all he enjoyed yard work, tinkering with wood work projects, reading, keeping his vehicles spotless, and spending time with his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister-in-law, Marcia Russmann.
Richard is survived by his wife, Judith Jensen; daughters, Kristi (Steve) Clawson, Shelli (James) Handy, Jennifer (Jeremy) McDermott; sister, Carol (Duwayne) Doty; brother, Roger (Melissa) Jensen; 6 grandchildren, Kelsey Handy, Konnor Handy, Cameron Clawson, Bryce Clawson, Chloe Clawson, Kaden McDermott; great grandson, Landon Kohl; brother-in-law, Jerry Russmann; nephew, Jeff Wellman; and a host of other family and friends.

Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Saturday, February 27, 2021. Visitation will be held the hour prior to the service. The family will direct memorials.
