Robert J Poffenbarger

Robert J. Poffenbarger passed away at his home on April 28, 2022 at the age of 66.

Robert was born on June 18, 1955 in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

"Bobby Jo", as his siblings called him, grew up in Southwest Iowa. He enjoyed fishing, camping and swimming and was an avid reader. He graduated from Oakland High School in 1973 where he played football.

Robert joined US Navy after he graduated high school and served his country for 19 years. He was a Veteran of Desert Storm and served one tour in Italy. When he retired from the Navy, Bob spent the next 15 years living and working construction in the San Diego, CA area. He moved back to Councils Bluffs in 2007 and worked at Warren Oil Distributing until retiring in 2020.

Bob came from a large blended family and was preceeded in death by father, William R Poffenbarger, mother LaVonne Leib, brother, Garry Dean Leib and sister Kristie Poffenbarger.

He is survived by sisters Suzette Leib, Sandra Meis, Angel Hauger. Cyndie Poffenbarger and brothers William Poffenbarger Jr, Doug "Mike Poffenbarger, John Hauger, Daryl Dean Leib Jr., as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins.

Robert will be put to rest at Omaha National Cemetery at a later date to be determined by family.
