Steven T. Marr

February 25, 1954 — July 23, 2018

Steven T. Marr, age 64, passed away July 23, 2018. He was born in Omaha on February 25, 1954 to the late Timothy and Ada Elizabeth (Cain) Marr. Steve met Lorie Ross on a blind date in 1970, they dated through high school and married two years later. To this union they welcomed three children, Cheryl, Ann and Nathan.

Steve was a family man, his 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren were his pride and joy. He enjoyed going fishing, camping, traveling, bike rides or just going to the park. He taught his grandkids how to bargain and barter at garage sales and loved going golf ball smashing with them. One of his favorite things to do was to watch them at their sporting events. Most activities spent with him were followed up by a trip to Kristy Kreme. Steve was a junk food junkie, but hated eating them alone, his family called him a social ice cream eater.

Steve worked in manufacturing at Federal Envelope for 25 years then worked for the Old Market Sourdough Bakery. He really enjoyed learning how to bake the different varieties of bread and provide samples at the store and at the farmers market.

Steve was a jack of all trades, versatile in anything from plumbing to remodeling, to lawn mowers, VCRs or cars. Steve loved being out in his garage tinkering while rocking out to music. The louder the better, music actually became a way to connect with his kids. Probably every single one of the older grandkids are familiar with “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” by Queen.

Every year he and Lorie would host a huge Halloween party full of decorations, food, pumpkin carvings, costumes and pictures. Steve was one very proud papa, he will be greatly loved and missed and always in our memories.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Carol Ann Marr and Gloria Jean McGowen.

Steven is survived by his wife of 46 years, Lorie Marr; children, Cheryl Thomas (Jon Lyon), Ann Blanchard (Trevor), Nate Marr; grandchildren, Caleb (Justine), Sierra (Jon), Sidney (Jesse), Alex, Brett, Logan, Luke, Bailee and Gabrielle; 3 great grandchildren, Michael, Benjamin and Rylynn; brother, Timothy Marr (Cheryl); sister, Cheryl Sue Cronin; nieces, nephews and many other family and friends.
