Verlyn R. Johnson

Verlyn R. Johnson, age 87, of Crescent, Iowa, passed away at his home on May 16, 2019.

He was born in Hazel Dell Township on June 24, 1931 to the late Robert and Irene (Melton) Johnson. Verlyn graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School and then proudly served his country in the United States Army. He retired from the Union Pacific Railroad and was a lifelong farmer.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Verlyn Johnson Jr.; sister, Fern Davis.

Verlyn is survived by his wife of 67 years, Gloria Johnson; son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Kim Johnson; grandchildren, Catherine Perich (Lee), Luke Johnson (Lindsi) and Levi Christensen; 5 great grandchildren.

Visitation is 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home. A private graveside service will be in the Hazel Dell Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to AseraCare Hospice.
