Virgillia "Jill" A. Bailey

Virgillia “Jill” Ann Bailey, age 81 of Underwood, Iowa, passed away on November 23, 2016 at Hospice with Heart Hospice House in Glenwood, Iowa. She was born in Thurman, Iowa on April 7, 1935 to the late John and Josephine (Froman) Cowden.

Jill spent most of her adult life in Griswold, Iowa and Underwood, Iowa. She was an active member of the communities in which she lived. She worked a variety of occupations including secretary, truck dispatcher, and office manager/bookkeeper. In addition to her family, Jill loved animals and had a special fondness for German Shepherd dogs and Scottish Fold cats.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Bailey; son, William Bailey Jr (Margaret Denike); grandson, William Bailey III; and brother, John Cowden.

Jill is survived by her children, John Hanlan, Tricia Bailey (Andrew Owen), Russell Bailey (Christina), and Tim Bailey; stepchildren, Victoria Chavez (Manuel), Katherine Larsen (Les), and Belinda Fritz; sisters, Janice Watson (Jim) and Sharon Morrical (James); grandchildren, great grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.

A memorial service will be held December 3rd at 10:30 am at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church at 15 Bennett Avenue in Council Bluffs. A luncheon in the fellowship hall will follow. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice with Heart of Council Bluffs and Glenwood, Iowa.
