Arlue Mary Guttau

July 17, 1921 — August 20, 2015

Arlue M. Guttau, age 94, passed away on August 20, 2015 at Risen Son Christian Village. She was born on her family farm just outside of McClelland, Iowa on July 17, 1921 to the late Oscar and Laura (Boehm) Kunze. Arlue was married to Raymond Guttau on October 10, 1942. They grew up as neighbors and then made a life together working on the Guttau Family Farm and raising four daughters. After moving to Treynor in 1977, she was known as the lady with the beautiful flowers on Main Street next to the elementary school. She was a member of Living Hope Community Church. Most of all, she loved Jesus, loved her family, baking, flowers but especially roses. She enjoyed being the victim of many of dads practical jokes and also had a few of her own, such as her special recipe for pancakes with cardboard filling. She didnt love the many critters various family members brought to surprise her, the snake on the sewing machine treadle, a salamander, a turtle in a box, baby mice, a weasel in the egg basket and frogs in a box. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Guttau; grandson, Darrin Sudmann; sons-in-law, Roger Knudsen and Clark Barnes; sisters, Edna Waldron, Velna Waldron, Marie Heuwinkel, Bernie Cain, Ceno Honeyman; brother, Clarence Kunze. Arlue is survived by her daughters, Connie Sudmann and her husband Freddie, Rhonda Knudsen, Janise Waggoner and her husband Phil, Joan Kalstrup and her husband Mike; grandchildren and great grandchildren: DeLynn & Brenda (Gabel, Guy, Jozie) Sudmann; Derrick & Nancy (Taylor, Konnor) Sudmann; Danette & Jim (Kyle, Kaylie) Blackledge; Dallas & Cynthia (Ashley, Olivia) Sudmann; Doreen & Tim (Noel, Noah, Aubree) James; Daniel Sudmann; Chris & Gina (Luke, Katelyn) Knudsen; Debbie & Chris (Braeden, Camden, Carsten, Kyler) Krusemark; Jeff & Amanda Knudsen; Jennifer & Scott (Victoria, Patrick) Mullen; Stephanie & Jason (Annabelle, Avery, Jackson) Thiem; Karin (Ava) Waggoner; Kristen Waggoner; David & Alicia (Emily, Ethan) Waggoner; Brian & Rachel (Lauren, Andrew, Emily, Will) Kalstrup; Greg & Charity Kalstrup and Amy & Glenn Tomren.
