Barbara Jo Shearer

Barbara J. (Gaver) Shearer, age 77, lost her battle with cancer and passed away October 6, 2011 at Mercy Hospital. She was born in Missouri Valley, Iowa on August 3, 1934 to the late Gerald W. & Ione G. (Miller) Gaver. Before starting her family, she worked at Union Pacific and most recently in customer service at Dillard?s retiring in 2009. Barbara is survived by her husband, Charles Shearer to who she married September 6, 1953; sons, Mike Shearer of Omaha and Mark Shearer & wife, Cindy of Lincoln; daughter, Lori Yocum & husband, Dick of Council Bluffs; sister, Phyllis Broady of Granby, Colorado; grandchildren, Jason (Jacquie) Shearer, Libby (Scott) Farmen, Jared (Lydia) Shearer, Nicholas Yocum; great-grandchildren, Olivia and Luke Farmen; 3 nephews as well as other family and friends. Visitation with the family will be Sunday 3:00-5:00 p.m. at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home & Crematory. Funeral Service will be Monday 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery followed by a reception in the Hoy-Kilnoski Community Room. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
