Danielle (Danie) Hick

December 11, 1982 — November 1, 2022

Danielle (Danie) went home to be with her Lord Jesus at 5:30PM Tuesday, November 1, 2022 after a short courageous battle with Metastatic Breast cancer which had spread to her lungs, liver, and bones. Danie told her family she loved them and wanted to stay here with them and fight. The fight was more than she could withstand and she passed away at home holding her mom's hand with her dad and brother Donnie by her side.

Danie is preceded in death by both sets of her grandparents, her Uncle Robin Hick, Uncle Gary Hick and her niece Hailey Marie Dawn.

Danie is survived by her parents Donna and Tracy Hick, her grandpa (poppy) Jerry Hodges, sisters Crystal (Chuck) Herndon and Cameron Doggett, Robyn Hick and 11 month old HayLeigh Grace. Brothers, Donnie (Shawn) Hick all of Council Bluffs, Iowa and Jayden (Mia) Hick and 4 ½ month old Michael of Elk Horn, Iowa. She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, co-workers (who were always family to Danie), and her church family at Collective Church Omaha where she loved to worship and connect with people.

Danielle was born at University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska on December 11, 1982. She loved sports. Her favorite teams were the Texas Longhorns, Golden State Warriors and women's sports at Iowa Western Community College, especially basketball. She knew the girls at Iowa Western were not from here and did not have parents to come watch them play. She was an alumni and felt it was her job to go to all the games she could. She would usually be seen wearing attire from all of them at the same time because she did not want to show favoritism. She loved spending time with her family and spoiling HayLeigh and Michael. Telling them or any of her siblings NO was not usually in her vocabulary.

Danie's goal was to help her mom in any way she could. When her mom adopted two of her grandchildren, Robyn and Jayden, Danielle decided to go to college at home and help her mom raise the little ones. She became like a second parent to them. Danielle decided to go to college at Iowa Western and earned her degree in Early Childhood Education. She finished her education at Kaplan University with a Bachelor Degree in Business all while working and helping her mom. Danielle was very independent and did not like people helping her. She felt she was supposed to help others and she did that with passion. Her last month with her family she did not like being taken care of and often said she did not want to be a burden to them. There was no way Danielle could ever be a burden to anyone, especially her family. She was cherished and will be forever missed. Danielle is at peace in heaven free from cancer and pain. She has now been healed.
