Dora A. Gress

Dora A. Gress, age 95, passed away on January 22, 2021 in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

She was born in Des Moines, Iowa on January 22, 1926 to Ingvard Johansen and Dora Rodine Johansen. She graduated from Central High School in Omaha, Nebraska in 1944. She lived most of her life in Council Bluffs. She was united in marriage to Fred R. Gress in 1946. Dora worked at Mercy Hospital for 23 years, retiring in 1984.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Fred; son, Robert Gress, Sr.; and great granddaughter, Courtney Brosam.

Dora is survived by her children, Jacqueline Holding (Clifford) and James Gress (Joelene); five grandchildren, Bill Holding (Lindsay), Brad Holding (Lindsay), Cindy Gangwish (Jack), Brian Gress, and Robert Gress, Jr.; great grandchildren, Lacey Gangwish, Lexi Gangwish, Hunter Holding, and Brayton Holding; and a host of other family and friends.

Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, January 26, 2021, 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association or the Diabetes Foundation.
