Helen Ann Skinner

October 11, 1951 — October 8, 2020

Helen Ann Skinner, 68, of Carter Lake passed away on October 8, 2020 peacefully in her home after a valiant battle with metastatic breast cancer.

She was born to the late Frank and Helen Kruger on October 11, 1951, in Omaha, NE. Helen graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Council Bluffs in 1969. She continued on to earn her degree and work as a respiratory therapist for many years at The Nebraska Medical Center.

She married John Skinner on July 1, 1971, and she resided in Carter Lake, IA "The Village" for over 50 years.

Helen is survived by two children: Jenny Skinner-Chiburis (Mike) of Carter Lake and Johnny Skinner (Kelly) of Lincoln, NE. She also leaves behind three grandchildren, Jaden and Kailyn Madden and Jack Skinner, sister Karen Thompson (Tim), brother Joe Watkins (Karla), brother-in-law Victor Skinner (Janet) and sister-in-law Sally Hagan (Gary)and many nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Helen Kruger, in-laws, Fred and Ella Mae Skinner, brother Jerry "Buck" Watkins, brother-in-law, Frederick "Shag" Skinner and nephew Frederick "Dale" Skinner as well as her best friend Lynn Gilson.

Helen had a love for her family, traveling, shopping and video poker. When she wasn't at home, there was a pretty good chance she was at the casino, hoping to hit that Royal Flush! She loved her family and friends fiercely, and will leave behind nothing but beautiful memories in the hearts of all that were lucky enough to have known her.

There will not be any services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for breast cancer research. She will be interred in the Omaha National Cemetery in Omaha, Nebraska.
