Jeffrey Morgan Jensen, age 70, passed away on September 30, 2013 at his home in West Des Moines, IA. Jeffrey was born on February 4, 1943 in Omaha, NE to George W. Jensen and Dorothy G. (Morgan) Jensen and raised in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Jeffrey was a 1961 graduate of Abraham Lincoln High School in Council Bluffs, and in 1958, while a student there, was a co-founder of and piano player for the rock group The Rumbles. He was a 1963 graduate of Dunwoody Industrial Institute in Minneapolis, MN. He served in the United States Army Security Agency 1964 1968 with duty stations in Southeast Asia, including Vietnam, Thailand and Okinawa. After an honorable discharge from the USASA in 1968, he attended Iowa State University in Ames, IA and received a BS degree in Elementary Education in 1973. Jeffrey began his railroad career in 1973, at Chicago and North Western Railroad as a yard clerk in Council Bluffs. He was promoted to the General Claims Section in 1981 and continued in various capacities in the Claim Department for the C&NW and Union Pacific railroads until 2005 when he retired after 32 years of service. He is a member of the ISU Alumni Association, VFW Post #8307 in Ogden, Utah and Vietnam Veterans of America Post # 1079. He was preceded in death by his parents, George W. and Dorothy G. Jensen. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Evelyn (Howland) Jensen, son Jorge M. Jensen, (Tara) Alexander, IA., daughter, Jeflyn J. Gilman, (Tim) Waukee, IA; step-children Sheri E. Jensen (David Hubbard), Garner, IA., Jennifer L. Olson (Jeremy Olson), Des Moines, IA, L. Benjamin Olson (Melissa), Liscomb, IA; Dennis E. Olson (Jody), Marshalltown, IA, and Steven E. Olson, (Sonya) Council Bluffs, IA, sister Julie Anne Gilman (Robert), Blue Springs, MO and brother Joel M. Jensen, Omaha, NE, 19 Grandchildren, 7 + 2 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and God-son, Wesley M. Ransom. Visitation is Wednesday 6-8PM at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home. Graveside service and inurnment is Thursday 11AM at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery at Van Meter, Iowa with Pastor Stephen Ransom officiating. Memorials will be directed by the family.
