Jeffrey R. Blackman

October 27, 1952 — September 17, 2021

Jeffrey Blackman, age 68, passed away September 17, 2021.

He was born October 27, 1952, to the late Dwayne and Eleanore (Koch) Blackman in San Bernardino, CA. Jeffrey started his reputation of being a hard worker in his younger years at his father's gas station/tire shop. He loved the summer heat out in California and became a lifeguard/swimming instructor on the west coast, right on the Pacific Ocean. He moved to Council Bluffs, IA in his teenage years. He attended high school at Abraham Lincoln. During high school he met his wife, Sheri in the sweet summer of '69 at Bayliss Park during a music festival. Jeff worked for the Civic Auditorium, was a long term employee at Campbell Soup (Swanson Division), and then moved his way over to Ready Mix Concrete. He also took computer technology classes through Metro CC.

Jeff had a multitude of different hobbies. He loved metal detecting, fixing computers, mushroom hunting, genealogy, baking, and woodworking. He had a huge heart when it came to animals and enjoyed taking in pets over the years. Jeff also had a passion for bikes whether it be a smooth cruise on a motorcycle or a fun jaunt on a bicycle. He acquired many antiques and loved sharing the history behind each one.

Jeffrey will be remembered for his sense of humor and his love for his family and close friends. He was the best husband, father, and grandfather. He was the type of man that would do anything for anyone and not expect anything in return. He has left behind a long legacy of fearless girls and a lot of unfinished projects. Jeff could never stay still nor did he want to. He always had to be active whether it was physically or mentally. If he wasn't working on a project, he was teaching someone else how to do it.

Heaven gained one hell of an angel.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by father, Dwayne Blackman; mother, Eleanor Blackman; brother, Charlie Blackman.

Jeffrey is survived by his wife, Sheri (Kastner) Blackman; children, April Rogers, Amy (Tony) Vanderpool, Amber Blackman; siblings, Gary Blackman, Danny Blackman, Brian Blackman, June (Mike) Rizzo; 8 granddaughters, Alexandria (Brandon) Garcia, Mia (Lance) Paesl, Ashley Rogers, Abigail Rogers, Annabelle Rogers, Cali Vanderpool, Mara Vanderpool, Addison Blackman and 2 great grandsons,Griffin and Phoenix Garcia; special nephews, Patrick Stamper (Megan) and Gary Stamper (Rachelle); nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other family and friends.
