The world lost a remarkable man Sunday, December 5, 2021, 1 month after his 98th birthday. He recently lost the love of his life Lu, they would have celebrated 80 years of marriage in January. In 1943 he joined the United States Army, leaving 2 days after he got married and served in the European Theatre. Upon returning from service, he went back to work for Union Pacific Fruit Express at the ice docks in Council Bluffs, Iowa until retiring in 1968. He also ran Leonard's TV service to the late 90's. If you were lucky enough to know Bud, he was kind hearted, generous and a hard worker and he played as hard as he worked. He could build and fix anything and he wouldn't give up until it was done right. His passions were family, boating, water and snow skiing, snowmobiling, motorcycles, stain glass, dancing, golfing and making Lu happy.
His family was everything to him. He was preceded in death by wife, Lulu Belt; parents, Walter and Marie (Wright) Belt; siblings, Lloyd, Bob and Maxine; son in-law, Gary Butterbaugh.
Leonard is survived by daughters, Kathy Butterbaugh and Teri "Jeanne" (Terry) Bowman; grandchildren, Lisa, Jay, Stacy, Tiffany, Ian; great grandchildren, Nolan, Carter, Isa, Liam and Mila; many family and friends.
