Lisa L. Mott

Lisa Lorraine Mott (Turpen), 57 years, Henderson, IA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 29th, 2020 at Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs, IA. She was in the presence of her loving family. She was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer in October of 2019. Facing her foe with unwavering faith, grace, courage, and dignity, she spent the last few months battling but in the end the cancer did not win. Lisa won and went to spend eternal life with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Lisa was born on July 21st, 1962 in Fort Dodge, IA to Larry and Roberta (Bobbie) Turpen. She was a 1980 graduate of Lewis Central High School. Lisa went on to earn her teaching degree from IWCC. She worked as a supervisory home schoolteacher for the state of Iowa. Lisa was also a support group leader of the Council Bluffs/Omaha chapter of the Lyme Disease Association.

Lisa enjoyed spending time with her family and looked forward to the Annual Trainer Family vacation up north to Minnesota where she would spend a week with her entire family enjoying the great outdoors. Lisa loved the lake, campfires, smores, and listening to the sound of the loons. She also loved baking for her family and knitting with her daughter Melissa.

Most of all, she loved and adored her children, they were her world.

Lisa was a devoted, loving Mother, Daughter, Sister, Aunt, Niece, Cousin, Friend, and Educator. She will be missed by so many near and far.

Lisa is survived by her children Joshua, Melissa, Jacob and Trent Mott and their father, Will; granddaughter, Nyla; parents, Larry and Roberta (Bobbie) Turpen; brothers, Brett Turpen, and Matthew Turpen (Mary Jo) ; sister, Ruthann Downey (Michael); 13 nieces and nephews, cousins and a host of other family and friends.

Celebration of Life is 1:00 PM on Saturday March 14,2020 at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home with luncheon following at the funeral home. Visitation will be one hour prior to Memorial Service, also at the funeral home. The family will direct memorials.
