Marilyn M. Lustgraaf

Marilyn M. Lustgraaf, age 80, passed away November 17, 2022.

She was born April 25, 1942, to the late Henry and Emma (Thomas) Hansen and was raised on a farm near Crescent, IA. Marilyn attended Hazel Dell #9 School and graduated from Underwood High School in 1960. Her first job was working as a waitress at Lane Cafe in Council Bluffs, IA and that is where she got to know Jerry who came there with his car club. After graduating high school, Marilyn attended business school and worked at an insurance agency in Council Bluffs, IA.

Marilyn and Jerry were married on June 9, 1962 at Saviors Lutheran Church in Council Bluffs. After Jerry returned from the service they purchased a house and shop in Treynor, IA and moved there January 1, 1969. Marilyn also worked for Gronstal Insurance in Treynor for 8 years, was the bookkeeper at St. Paul Lutheran Church for 8 years, and made the best donuts and breakfast pizza at Treynor's Caseys for almost 20 years. She was also the manager of the Treynor Senior Citizen Home and continued to serve on the board until her passing.

Marilyn had a green thumb and loved her garden and flowers. She made and sold crafts for many years and organized crafts during bible school. She also loved to sew, even making her own wedding and bridesmaid's dresses. Marilyn like to go to garage sales and auctions and was an avid collector of fine pottery and liked to restore old pictures. She was proud of being a scratch cook and made great meals for her family. Marilyn was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and devoted herself to the family business. Marilyn loved her family and was always by their side to support them, help them and make sure they were taken care of. She taught her family the value of hard work and good judgment. She lived her life with courage and integrity.

Marilyn is survived by her husband of 60 years, Jerry Lustgraaf; children, Amy Hansen (Tim Nicholls) and Dustin Lustgraaf (Kelly Burhenne); grandchildren, Gehard Hansen, Lucas Lustgraaf, Abbylee Lustgraaf, Hannah Lustgraaf, and Emmalyn Hansen; a host of other family and friends.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Monday, November 21, 2022.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Treynor on Tuesday, November 22, 2022. Interment is in the Hazel Dell Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Treynor American Legion - Lamar Hartje Post 725 or St. Paul Lutheran Church in Treynor.
