Marvin W. Gittins

Marvin W. Gittins Sr., age 79, of Council Bluffs passed away April 12, 2015 at the Nebraska Medical Center. He was born in Council Bluffs on September 29, 1935 to Vern and Hazel (Wilson) Gittins. Marvin was a truck mechanic for many years. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his sister, Sandra Gittins. Marvin is survived by his wife of 59 years, Betty Gittins; children, Marvin Gittins Jr. and his wife, Della of Erath, Louisiana, Cynthia Ferraro and her husband, Joseph of Wausau, Wisconsin, James Gittins and his wife, Catherine of Omaha, Nebraska; mother, Hazel Shea; siblings, Janet Knapp, Richard and Cecilia Gittins, Jean Ross, Linda and Philip Sargent, Kenneth and Mary Gittins; grandchildren, Emily Bergeron, Joseph Ferraro, Jessica Gittins, Aubrey Miaskowski, Ashley Ferraro, Tiffani Gittins, Jimmy Gittins, Lydia Ferraro, Dannielle Norris; great grandchildren, Alexander, Vincent, Evelyn and Kaedyn; a host of other family and friends. Visitation is Wednesday 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home. Funeral service is Thursday 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment is in the Cedar Lawn Cemetery. The family will direct memorials.
