Richard (Rick) L. Tiarks

Richard (Rick) L. Tiarks, age 57, of Kingsport, Tenn., passed away May 22, 2017, at Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport.

Rick was born March 7, 1960, in Council Bluffs, to Maynard and Ruth (Geise) Tiarks.

He was preceded in death by his father, Maynard Tiarks; and his grandparents, Ed and Anna Tiarks and Fred and Hertha Geise.

Rick graduated in 1978 from Treynor High School. He farmed with his brother Roger for about 3 years. Rick took computer programming classes at Iowa Western Community College and then managed a computer store in Bellevue, Neb., for 2 years. He began working for Walmart where he became a store manager. He also managed a store for Garden Ridge in Memphis, Tenn. Most recently he was employed by Action Rental in Kingsport. Rick played various sports in high school. He enjoyed entertaining with “Tom” his ventriloquist buddy. He was an avid guitar player, leading worship in the many Bible Studies he helped to lead. He became interested in leather working producing many beautiful pieces that are being enjoyed by his family. He loved reading and watching documentaries of history and biographies and especially loved politics. Rick was known for his wit and sense of humor.

Rick is survived by his mother, Ruth Tiarks, of Treynor, Iowa; his twin brother, Ron (Jacqueline), of Bentonville, Ark.; and another brother, Roger (Rena'), of Bellevue; sisters, Cindy (Carl) Wiese, of Treynor, Colleen Naccarato (Todd), of Russellville, Ark., Cheryl Sokol, of Kingsport, Carla (Keith) Christensen, of Treynor; loving nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be June 17, 2017 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the Fellowship Church in Oakland, Iowa with a Celebration of Life Service beginning at 11:00 a.m. with a luncheon immediately following. Private interment at the Zion Cemetery in Treynor. The family will direct memorials.
