Robin Rae Wood

Robin Rae Wood was born on November 16, 1957, to her mother, Donna Rae (Totten) Wood in Omaha, Nebraska. After her mother’s passing, she moved to Pisgah, IA and was raised by her aunt and uncle Phyllis and Daryld Hinkel. She attended West Harrison High School and graduated in 1976. She later continued her studies at Iowa Western Community College and got her associate’s in accounting.

Robin was a hardworking woman who worked at Old Home Cafe and then later at Warren Distribution for greater than 20 years. Her dedication to her job and love for her coworkers was evident to all who knew her.

Robin was married to David Smith in 1976 and together they had four children: Shana, Shasta, Dondi, and Deeana. She was a devoted mother who enjoyed spending time with her girls.

Robin loved the simple things in life. She enjoyed collecting and restoring antiques, crocheting, crafting, camping, and reading. She also loved spending time with her friends in her Yahtzee group.

Robin passed away on March 31, 2023, at the age of 65. She was preceded in death by her mother Donna Wood, aunt Phyllis Hinkel, uncle Daryld Hinkel, sister Nancy Mitchell, brothers David Wood and Rick Wood, and previous spouse David Smith. She is survived by her four daughters Shana Smith of Phoenix, AZ, Shasta Smith of Pisgah, IA, Dondi (Keith) Mickey of Missouri Valley, IA and Deeana Smith of Missouri Valley, IA; siblings Lynn, Chris, Mike, Dennis, and Jeff; and grandchildren Logan, Taylor, Micheal, Ashton, Braxton, Connor, Cason, Kinsley and Brixlie.

Robin will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of kindness, hard work, and dedication to her family will live on through her children and grandchildren.
