Tracey Wayne Reisis

September 7, 1963 — October 1, 2020

Tracey Wayne Reisis, a lifelong resident of Carter Lake, IA, passed away on October 1, 2020 at the age of 57.

Tracey is survived by his wife, Jeanie; uncle and aunt, Dick and Roxie Pickel; mother and father in laws, Jean and Bernie Nobis; his children, John “JD” (Bridgette), Jordan (fiancée Mackenzie) and Jacob; siblings, Robin Conner (Tim), Todd Reisis (JoJo), Troy Reisis (Toni), and Kelly Sorensen (Jeff); Brother-in-Laws; Jerry Peters, Bob Peters (JoEl), Mike Peters; nieces and nephews, Jordan, Rachel, Peter, David; great-nieces and nephews Holly, Nate, Betsy, Kendra, Bobby, Shane, Dylan, and Madison; grandchildren, Luciana and Nolan and many more extended family and friends.

Tracey was born on September 7, 1963 in Omaha, Nebraska to parents Sharon and Janis John Reisis (deceased). He played football, was in Cub Scouts and was always playing outside with the other kids in the neighborhood, they were known as the “P Street Gang.” He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1982. Tracey was a manager for over 30 years in the automobile and recreational vehicle parts departments.

Tracey always dreamed about getting married and having a family of his own. At age 45 he married Jeanie Peters-Hemmerich. By marrying Jeanie he acquired an instant family with her 3 sons of which 2 were already teenagers and 1 was in elementary school. Tracey always referred to the boys as his sons and loved him with that big heart of his.
Tracey set about teaching them kindness and patience through example, he was a devoted husband and father who encouraged everyone to pursue their goals and do their best.

Not only did he get this immediate family, he also gained many extended family members. He developed special relationship with Jeanie's cousins, Trisha and Aaron Ryland and their children Caleb, Brayden, Delanie, and Quinn. They were neighbors for many years so it was easy to develop this special bond with their Uncle Tracey. He was exceptional at entertaining the little ones and they could always count on a good time with Uncle Tracey around.

Tracey was an avid fisherman who enjoyed being on the lake with his brother and close friends for the annual guys fishing weekend. It always seemed like they spent most of the excursion partaking in adult beverages and playing cards, than they did trying to catch fish. Many years Tracey would come home and Jeanie would say, “did you win the trophy for biggest fish?” His answer would be, “I didn’t even win the smallest fish trophy.”

Tracey was a hardcore Husker fan and Minnesota Vikings fan and represented the teams well by wearing silly hats and displaying proud flags.

Tracey also loved volunteering at the boys’ school. When Jacob was in High School, Tracey became the “grill master” at band competitions when he grilled burgers and hot dogs for the band. When Jordan was in show choir, Tracey would help at their competitions and participate in fundraisers. When JD was on the baseball team in high school, you could usually find Tracey behind the popcorn machine with butter and salt in his beard and a smile on his face.

Tracey was a kind and gentle soul and he will be missed beyond what words can explain. We hold tight to our memories of Tracey.

Tracey loved the Lord. Tracey and Jeanie were members of Parkway Church of God in Omaha. This is where Tracey accepted Jesus into his heart and where he and his wife were baptized. We can celebrate that Tracey is with his mom and dad and his Godparents, Russell and Grace and most of all, Jesus has his arms wrapped around Tracey and the angels are singing..

A special request Tracey would want to make is to: Please pray for his Pastor: Patty Riddle, who continues to battle Covid 19.

A Memorial Service is scheduled for Tuesday October 6, 11:00 a.m., at Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home, with a visitation during the hour prior to the service.
