Walter L. Casson

Walter L. Casson Jr., age 69 of Council Bluffs passed away June 9, 2013. He was born in Council Bluffs on October 28, 1943 to the late Walter Sr. & Lillian (Peterson) Casson. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Bill Casson; sisters, Beverly Andersen and Leta Hoffman; father-in-law, Don Spetman. Walt retired in 2006 from Land-O-Lakes. He was a member of the American Legion Lamar J. Hartje Post 725 at Treynor, Iowa and he was a Mason, having membership in Lodge #569 at Quick, Iowa. He was also a member of the Shrine. Walt is survived by his wife, Kathy to whom he was married December 18, 1976; sisters, Marie Christensen of Underwood, IA, Eileen Grobe of Oakland, IA, Evelyn Wild of Vancouver, WA, Janet McKern of Council Bluffs, IA; brothers and sisters-in-law, Weslie & Doreen Casson of McClelland, IA and Wayne & Susan Casson of Treynor, IA; mother-in-law, Ilene Spetman of Papillion, NE; sister-in-law, Cindy Hennings & her husband, Al of Omaha, NE; many nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and great nephews; a host of other family and many friends; and of course his dogs, Bailey and Brancott. Masonic service is Thursday 5:30 p.m. followed by visitation until 8:00 p.m. at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral home. Funeral service is Friday 10:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Interment is in the Hardin Township Cemetery. A reception will follow at the McClelland Town Hall. The family will direct memorials to a cause in Walt’s honor.
